The Prorustica Team
The Partners at Prorustica have worked in both the private and public sectors, focusing on private sector development, finance and agribusiness investment.
As an innovative enterprise Prorustica has focused on financing for agribusinesses operating in the developing world. In the 1990s we worked for the Dutch bank, Rabobank International and helped set up the agri-project finance team (APFT).
The Prorustica team was instrumental in the design and finance of one of the first large scale agri-based Public Private Partnerships.
Working with an international sugar and sweeteners group, the Vietnamese government, IFC and the Asian Development Bank, the Partnership designed, financed and developed a large-scale sugar-cane production and sugar processing facility.
Patrick Guyver – Founder
Patrick Guyver has 25 years of agribusiness development experience in transitional economies around the world. He has worked in both the private and public sectors predominantly focusing on private sector development, finance and investment management. In the 1990s he worked for Rabobank International and headed up their project finance activities in South East Asia. In the early 1990s he led a bank team that designed and financed one of the first large scale agri-based Public Private Partnerships, (PPPs). Working with the international sugar and sweeteners group, Tate and Lyle, the Vietnamese government, IFC and the Asian Development Bank, the PPP developed a large scale sugar-cane production and sugar processing facility. The programme also developed sustainable cane production through the support of over 22,000 farmers.
In 2002 Patrick set up Prorustica with the goal of extending his commercial and business insights into work in rural development programmes. He has worked successfully with multi and bilateral development agencies, investment banks and private agribusiness firms. His most recent work has focused on defining the Private Sector Development and Partnership strategy for the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development including the design of concrete operational procedures for implementing the strategy.
He is also currently working for some of the larger private sector food retailers and commodity groups in Europe to guide them in the implementation of their corporate and social responsibility programmes in the developing world.
